This is one of the main elevators in the mall. the mall is actually not that old but the elevator is not holding up too well however this one runs great.

The basement level food court in Flushing, New York's recently opened New World Mall. For old timers, this was the former site of two defunct retailers (Alexander's and then Caldor's). This video was taken in the mid afternoon standing by the south side of the central escalator area, with nearly 360 degree pan over one minute duration, and was shot on a hand held Canon SD 1400 IS camera. There are about 30 different food vendors, mostly Asian cuisine. There is also a Burger stand and Pizzeria. Up one level to the Ground (street) floor, is the JMart supermarket and the third (top) floor houses the newly opened Grand Restaurant.

These were really pathetic. They bumped, jolted, slipped and any other feature of a death trap is found in here. Only the buttons and controllers were replaced. I believe the motors are original. It was very weird to see them both on different controllers. That is a major reason why the act the way they do, people press all of the buttons (up and down on both panels) and wait for whichever one comes first. This makes them move when they don't need to, causing wear and tear- especially aging. Notice how I got busted not once, but TWICE! The woman in the elevator just made sure I didn't take pictures of the store, so she couldn't care less, and the man at the escalator just asked me to stop filming, in the most nicest way possible. He didn't even kick me out! This store was also extremely crowded, so I got the elevators at a good time. Enjoy!
